Phase 2: Gen 0 Heroes
We know everyone has been super excited about the upcoming Phase 2 launch of Hero NFTs, and so are we! We can finally share more details about how it will work with everyone.
## What are Gen 0 Heroes?
Gen 0 Heroes are very important to the game. They are the genetic ancestors of all future heroes that will be summoned to Gaia. They also enjoy the cheapest summoning rates and the lowest summoning recharge times, making them perfect for summoning the future generations of Heroes in the most efficient way possible. They will also be rare collector items because there will be no other way to acquire Gen 0 Heroes other than purchasing them from this sale, or from others who might sell them to you. All Gen 0 Heroes will be at least RARE rarity, with higher than normal chances of getting LEGENDARY or even MYTHIC rarity, as well as SHINY.
## The Airdrop
We will be taking a snapshot of the Bank on September 15th, around 2pm EST, and will be entering everyone who has at least 5k xJEWELs into a drawing to win a SHINY, RARE Gen 0 Hero NFT. All of the addresses containing at least 5k xJEWELs will be entered into the drawing. Addresses can receive an extra 2 entries for each multiple of 5k they have beyond the first. For example, if you have 10k xJEWELs in the snapshot, you will get 3 entries. If you have 15k, you get 5 entries. There is not a cap to amount of entries.
These entries will then all be entered into the Wheel of Names spinner (https://wheelofnames.com/) and we will live-stream spinning the wheel 50 times for 50 winners. These winners will then be given a token that will allow them to redeem 1 free RARE SHINY Gen 0 Hero NFT on the day that Hero NFTs are released. Airdrop winners will be given a head-start of 2 hours to redeem their Heroes before anyone else is allowed to begin buying. If you miss this window, you will still be able to redeem your Hero at your leisure even after the Gen 0 sale.
## The Gen 0 Sale
Because Gen 0 Heroes are so rare, and also so important to the future of the game by virtue of them summoning new generations, it was tricky to zero in on a good price point. We wanted to make it possible for regular people to be able to get their hands on these, not just whales. This was difficult to do with only 1000 Gen 0 Heroes, so we have decided to increase the number of Gen 0 Heroes sold to 2000, and simultaneously lower the price, to enable more people to be able to afford them. We will start the sale at 750 JEWEL tokens for the first Gen 0 Hero, with the price increasing for each successive minting by 1.25 JEWELs.
The last Gen 0 Hero sold will be sold for 3000 JEWELs. When you pay to summon a Gen 0 Hero, you will have to first ‘Approve’ the smart contract to deduct JEWELs from your balance. This will mean that you are approving the contract to spend however many JEWELs are required for the next Gen 0 Hero. Then you will be presented with a Hero Crystal, which will be openable after 30 seconds to reveal your Gen 0 Hero. You will be unable to purchase another Gen 0 Hero until you have opened the first one.
Once all of the Gen 0 Heroes are gone, the only way to get more will be to summon Heroes by pairing two existing Heroes at the portal, or buy hiring Heroes at the Tavern that other players have put on offer. The date and time of the Gen 0 Sale is yet TBD, but will be in the latter half of September.
The JEWELs spent on minting these Gen 0 Heroes will be divided into multiple funds for the future of the game, as follows:
1% — Burned
10% — Sent to the Bank to reward xJEWEL holders
30% — Sent to a Quest Rewards Fund
25% — Sent to the Development Fund, to pay for future game development and bounties
17% — Sent to the Marketing Fund, to pay for advertising, airdrops, etc
17% — Sent to the Founders Fund, to reward the founding team.
